Contemporary Economics - Quarterly Scientific Journal
„Contemporary Economics” is an academic quarterly addressed to academicians, economic policymakers as well as to students of finance, accounting, management and economics. In particular, the quarterly contains academic manuscripts on problems of contemporary economics, finance, banking, accounting and management examined from various research perspectives.
The journal Contemporary Economics (ISSN: 2084-0845) has been published by the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Finance and Management in Warsaw and Vizja Press & IT since 2007. It is an academic quarterly addressed to academicians, economic policymakers and students. The journal was initially published only in Polish and published papers with high scientific standards for national readers.
In 2010, the publisher diametrically changed the journal’s mission and the editorial policy, applying very high international standards to create a top-quality, internationally recognized journal. The revised mission of Contemporary Economics is to publish advanced theoretical and empirical research with a noticeable contribution and impact on science and policy.
The journal’s goal is to address universal contemporary issues regarding economics, finance and management with a theoretical framework and policy implications. Contemporary Economics publishes papers focusing on micro- and macroeconomics, the economics of finance and finance management, local (Polish) economic policy issues, and regional and international evidence that take into account the Polish experience.
The aim of the journal is to become a widely recognized and valuable scientific journal, particularly in the Post-Soviet countries. Furthermore, the journal’s mission is to present the world’s latest scientific achievements to the region and to impose the international standards of scientific research while providing an exchange platform for regional and international scientists.
The journal has had no problem obtaining ongoing submissions of papers from local, regional and international contributors. The papers obtained have been original academic manuscripts addressing issues from various research perspectives. The content of the “new journal” can be broadly characterized by two words: contemporary (new, innovative, creative) and economics (the study of the mechanism of economic behavior in the context of micro- and macroeconomics and finance with social, political, freedom and economic liberty, welfare, financial performance, and public finance impacts.
The journal presents theoretical and methodological manuscripts (including advanced quantitative and analytical tools as well as contemporary econometric models) and applications (case studies). Its publications affect national, regional (European, especially countries that have undergone systematic transformation, such as Central and Eastern Europe), and global understandings of economical, political and financial issues. Its manuscripts are based on important and fundamental theories presented in the journals indexed in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science database. Every year, the journal publishes approximately thirty original manuscripts that come not only from Polish contributors at universities and research institutes but also from other countries, such as Albania, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Austria, Malaysia, India, USA, Great Britain, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland.
All manuscripts are published solely in English, with open access to readers from the scientific and nonscientific community. Contemporary Economics is the first Polish economic journal to use ScholarOne Manuscript (a Thomson Reuters product) to manage the process of publication and the first to use American Journal Experts for language editing. To detect plagiarism and protect intellectual property, the journal applies the CrossCheck tool (Publishers International Linking Association, Inc.) for text verification. The high quality of the journal has gained recognition from many important international scientific databases, such as Cabell’s Directories, CEEOL, DOAJ, EBSCO, ECONIS, EconLit, EconStor, GALE, GENAMICS JournalSeek, ProQuest, RePEc, Scirus, SCOPUS, Ulrichsweb, WorldCat, and many others.
The journal is gaining international interest from globally recognized, well-known and distinguished scientists who support the journal’s development as members of the Editorial Board. The EB consists of representatives from 23 countries, including Andrei Shleifer (Harvard University, USA), Icek Ajzen (University of Massachusetts, USA, Bruno S.
